Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. Opens Canada’s Largest Renewable Natural Gas Facility Converting landfill gas to natural gas demonstrates our commitment to innovation and carbon reduction
As of September 30, 2014, we have added about 250 natural gas-powered trucks to our waste and recycling collection fleet since we announced our commitment in May 2013 to increase the number of natural gas powered trucks we purchase. We now have close to 400 natural gas powered-vehicles on the road in North America, which represents approximately 10% of our collection fleet.
We are excited to announce our partnership with TerraCycle Canada to offer recycling solutions that will help businesses, homes and governments reach their diversion and environmental sustainability goals.
Progressive Waste Solutions, which already has Canada's largest waste and recycling collection fleet of compressed natural gas (“CNG”) powered vehicles, plans to significantly increase the number of CNG-powered trucks it purchases. We made this announcement on the first day of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities 2013 annual conference, held in Vancouver, British Columbia.
On Monday, May 24, 2013, we held a grand opening of our new Construction and Demolition Material Recovery Facility in Vaughan, Ontario, just north of Toronto.
